In the last 4 years Arsenal has never reached the quartefinals stage. In this post tips and match review of Arsenal - Monaco.
ARSENAL - MONACO
Arsenal has a big tradition in Europe. Indeed they have taken part in the latest 15 Champions League, while Monaco hasnt played a last sixteen stage match since 2004/2005.
Monaco's recent story is not that glorious. 3 years ago they were relegated in Ligue 2 but after reaching Ligue 1 again, the new russian president signed loads of great players and the results came fast: Monaco ended Ligue 1 in 2nd position.
Problems start again on summer 2014 when president Rybolovlev divorced with his wife and costed him over 3 € billions and for that reason he decided to sell the most important players between the two last transfermarket windows:
James Rodriguez, Radamel Falcao, Emmanuel Rivière, Eric Abidal, Lucas Ocampos and Carl Medjani.
Without all these players, Monaco is now 4th in Ligue 1 and mainly it has won the Group C.
Monaco is very solid while defending ( 1 goal conceded during group stage) but at the same time they only scored 4 goals, the worst attack of the whole competition!
Monaco is basically a team with UNDER 2.5 tendence.
Arsenal is surely stronger than Monaco but in this season they lack in results continuity.
Arsenal often makes defensive mistakes but in this case Monaco will probably have few chances to score since it will play with a very low baricenter and Berbatov alone can't do a lot.
Monaco's last 19 matches ended 17 times NO GOAL and just 2 times GOAL (both teams to score).
