In this post tips and review of Real Madrid - Atletico Madrid after the 0-0 draw in Vicente Calderon Stadium.
REAL MADRID - ATLETICO MADRID
Several absences in Real line ups make really uncertain the result of this match, after the 0-0 draw in the first leg.
Ancelotti can't count on Marcelo, Modric, Benzema and Bale.
Atletico has often showed how to neutralize Real Madrid during the last two years, pressing with high rhythms for all the time.
Any player supports the others while defending, even Mandzukic and Griezmann.
What kind of match we watched in the first leg?
Not spectacural. Real started quite good and Oblak saved its goal at least in 3 clear occasions (17 Real shoot attempts in the end, Atletico 8 times). Real attacked a lot from the right wing with a very offensive Carvajal, while Ronaldo was a bit inconsistent, exception made for some movements.
Atletico suffered a lot long throws because Varane easily stopped Mandzukic on several occasions.
Real Madrid and his absences
Cool reminder by Carlo Ancelotti during the week, when he stated that Real Madrid can't be looking for any kind of alibi despite the absences of very important players.
2/3 of the attack will be missing, but probably the worst defection is the one of Modric, injured till June.
The qualification will be decided in the midfield
Real will be disposed with a 4-4-2 composed by new interpreters: Coentrao in place of Marcelo, Isco for Bale, Hernandez to subsitute the injured Benzema and Llaramendi in place of Modric.
4-4-2 is not bad for Real which has already defeated Liverpool and Barcelona in October with this scheme.
Atletico's midfielders will be Turan, Koke, Gabi and Tiago since Mario Suarez is banned.
It will be very important for Real that Isco and James make an extra effort to beat Atletico in what marks Simeone's squad: pressing.
Indipendently from the winner(hard to predict really), we expect few goals and probably more impetous than the previous matches.
REAL MADRID: Casillas; Coentrão, Ramos, Varane, Carvajal;
Illaramendi, Kroos, Isco, James Rodriguez; Ronaldo, “Chicharito” Hernández.
ATLETICO MADRID: Oblak; Siqueira, Godín, Miranda, Juanfran; Koke, Gabi, Arda Turan, Tiago; Mandzukic, Griezmann.
