In this post, tips and preview of England-Portugal, the other match of group B of the European Under 21 Championship 2015 hosted by Czech Republic.
ENGLAND - PORTUGAL
England and Portugal don't have a positive tradition at Euro Under 21 Championship, but they both have a very strong team for this edition.
England has won this competition twice (1982 and 1984) but in 12 appearances has reached the final only another time (2009), while Portugal has played the group stage only 4 times and has reached the semifinals only once (2004).
England has 2 very skilled forwarders, Saido Berahino (the topscorer of the qualification stage with 10 goals in 10 matches) and Harry Kane (6 goals in 8 appearances).
These 2 players have also made a wonderful season in Premier League (Berahino has scored 14 goals with West Brom while Harry Kane has scored 21 goals being the second top scorer of the whole league below el Kun Aguero).
Other positions aren't as strong as the forward: in the defense the best players are Chambers, Stones and Jenkinson.
In the midfield Barkley will be missing, a very important player who would assure order in english manouvers.
Portugal has great technique qualities and makes a good ball possession.
Portugal's strenght is in the midfielders composed by William Carvalho, Joao Mario, Ruben Neves and Bernardo Silva who are all ready for the major team. Also the defense is skilled and what is missing is a good striker.
We expect to see a very well-balanced match with both teams to score.
ENGLAND: Butland, Garbutt, Gibson, Stones, Jenkinson, Ward-Prowse, Carroll, Berahino, Hughes, Redmond, Kane.
PORTUGAL: Sa, Guerreiro, Ilori, Oliveira, Esgaio, Neves, Carvalho, Mário, Silva, Paciencia, Horta.
