Bayern Munich-Arsenal & Real Madrid-Napoli Previews

Champions League: Previews & Betting Tips for Bayern Munich-Arsenal and Real Madrid-Napoli scheduled on Wednesday 15 February (Last 16 Stage).

Arsenal were hoping to avoid a top club in the Last 16 draw but once again the opponent will be Bayern Munich.
German side have already knocked Gunners out from the competition in the last three occasions (2005, 2013 and 2014).
Arsenal have always scored in all group stage matches but at the same time too much are the defensive mistakes committed and the 2 goals conceded to Ludogorets and the equaliser in the last minutes vs PSG are a clear evidence.

Bayern have made well so far but only obtained the second place in the group stage following Atletico Madrid.
Germans stuggled a lot when playing away as showed in Spain vs Atletico (1-0 loss) but mainly in Russia where they were defeated 3-2 by Rostov but have won all their three matches played at Allianz Arena scoring a total of 10 goals.
Arsenal and Bayern have met ten times already in the competition and last meetings smile to Bayern.
As said above Germans eliminated Arsenal in 2005, 2013 and 2014.
The most recent meeting occurred in the past edition in the group stage: Arsenal won 2-0 in London and lost 5-1 in Munich.
In our opinion Bayern will get the pass for the quarterfinals: they have won their last 15 Champions League games played at home (scoring 53 goals in the partial).
Getting away Allianz Arena with a positive result is extremely hard and the only team close to make it was Juventus 2 seasons ago when they got a 2-2 draw with the equaliser scored by Bayern in the last minutes.
Ancelotti's Bayern is not as pleasant as Guardiola's one and a minor number of goals is just a statistic that confirms that.
Although that, Bayern are still leading Bundesliga, have reached DFB Pokal quarterfinals and last 16 stage in Champions.
Robben is finally fit and the Dutchman can be often decisive.
Muller will probably start from the bench with Vidal and Thiago Alcantara to be alternated on the threequarters, Lewandowski as striker and Robben and Douglas Costa ready to serve crosses from the sides.
Arsenal are very discontinuous even in the single match.
They have never won an away match against a strong opponent in the season: the only decent results away are the draws against PSG and Manchester United.
Arsenal lost 5-1 last time they met Bayern in Allianz Arena (past season).
Considering all these elements HOME WIN is very likely.

BAYERN MUNICH: Neuer, Lahm, Martínez, Hummels, Alaba, Alonso, Thiago, Vidal, Douglas Costa, Robben, Lewandowski.
ARSENAL: Čech, Bellerín, Koscielny, Mustafi, Monreal, Elneny, Coquelin, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Özil, Sánchez, Welbeck.

Napoli have reached the Last 16 stage for the second time in their history while Real Madrid have won two of the last 3 Champions League editions.
In our opinion Napoli have chances to get a ticket for the quarterfinals but in order to do so they have to score at least a goal in Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
Italian side is undergoing a great period of form and results: unbeaten for the last 18 official matches (12 wins) although the serious injury occurred to Milik on past October.
Coach Sarri has showed his excellent skills improving the offensive gamestyle and placing Mertens as central forwarder.
The Belgian international has already gone beyond his previous record of goals in a single season (16 goals in Serie A so far) and starting from December has scored 3 hat-tricks and a total of 14 goals in his last 12 matches.
Milik is available again but will stay on the bench because the 3 dwarves (Mertens, Insigne and Callejon) perfectly put into practise what Sarri preaches.
As said above Napoli can score in Santiago Bernabeu but the main problem will be avoiding to concede, indeed Napoli has been able to keep a clean sheet only once in their last ten away matches in the competition.
Italian side has a gamestyle that could create problems to Real Madrid, especially when Spaniards will try to start the maneuver from the defense. Napoli are very organized from a tactical point of view and would not be that strange to see them compete for the ball possession.
Our sensation is that Napoli will find a goal, maybe with the super inspired Mertens but avoiding a defeat will be hard: Real Madrid can score at the first attempt and Napoli have already committed stupid defensive mistakes when playing on the road and that could be amplified in such an important international contest.
Real Madrid players have much more experience than their opponents and in these circumstances it matters, and a lot!
In our opinion an hypothetical 2-1 defeat would be really precious for Napoli in sight of the 2nd Leg at San Paolo Stadium and we would not be surprised to see Sarri's troop eliminate Real Madrid but all will depend by the 1st Leg's result and for the moment we choose: HOME WIN, BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE and REAL MADRID DOUBLE CHANCE + OVER 1.5 GOALS.

REAL MADRID: Navas, Carvajal, Varane, Ramos, Marcelo, Casemiro, Kroos, Modric, Ronaldo, Lucas Vazquez, Benzema.
NAPOLI: Reina, Hysaj, Koulibaly, Albiol, Ghoulam, Allan (Zielinski), Hamsik, Diawara, Mertens, Callejon, Insigne.
